Julie French serves as the Spouse Program Manager at the COMMIT Foundation. With two decades of personal experience as a military spouse, Julie intimately understands the challenges facing military families, especially as families leave military service. In her role, Julie is instrumental in creating tailored assistance programs that address the unique needs of military spouses. Recognizing their pivotal role in veterans' well-being and success, she ensures they receive the necessary resources and guidance for a smooth transition from military to civilian life. She orchestrates spouse-focused workshops, fosters mentorship opportunities, and creates a community for military spouses during this challenging time. Julie returned home to Helena, MT after her husband retired from the Navy. She enjoys reading, playing and teaching piano, and spending quality time with her husband, Michael, and their seven children. Thanks!

Sommer Moon

Executive Assistant

As a proud Air Force spouse of 22 years, Sommer brings a deep understanding of military life, family resilience, and the power of community to her role at The COMMIT Foundation. After dedicating many years to raising her family and supporting her husband’s active-duty career, she re-entered the workforce with a strong passion for meaningful service and behind-the-scenes impact. Community has always been at the heart of Sommer’s journey—building it, nurturing it, and showing up for it. Whether in the military world or her local circles, she believes community is not just something we find, but something we create and carry with us. In her role as Executive Assistant, she supports the COMMIT team with thoughtful coordination, organization, and care—ensuring that every detail contributes to a mission that uplifts veterans and their families through life’s transitions. Raised in Spokane, Washington, Sommer is grateful to be stationed there today with her husband and their three children. A lifelong book lover who finds her peace in the mountains, she values connection, quiet strength, and the transformative power of service—principles that align closely with COMMIT’s mission.

Kim Rasmussen

Development Research

Kim brings over ten years of development and communications experience helping various nonprofits achieve their missions to empower individuals and strengthen families, centering on New York, LA, and national markets. She holds a BS from the University of South Dakota, a MA from Belmont University, and an MFA from Oregon State University. Coming from a large family of those who serve or have served in the military, Kim feels grateful for the opportunity to help COMMIT’s mission through providing research and development consulting support.

Janeen Alley

Spouse Program

Janeen’s passion for coaching and curriculum development spans nearly two decades, beginning with creating a six-week nutrition and wellness course for her military community in northern Japan. Whether homeschooling her four children, or running her coaching business, she thrives on teaching and cherishing the “light bulb” moments when others experience breakthroughs. She finds it especially rewarding to help individuals overcome limiting beliefs and create lasting, meaningful change. Currently, Janeen runs a coaching business and manages the spouse program at The COMMIT Foundation. Once high-strung, she credits meditation and yoga with transforming her life—so much so that she became a certified teacher in both practices. Now based in Denver, Janeen enjoys exploring, hiking, and skiing with her family (sticking to the groomed slopes!), playing the violin and handpan, and listening to podcasts while walking her dog, Jackson. Her husband, Merrill, will retire from the Air Force in July 2026, and they plan to remain in Colorado.

Maria Volodkevich

Marketing and Communications

Maria serves as the Marketing and Communications Manager at The COMMIT Foundation, where she channels her love of creativity and psychology into impactful brand storytelling that supports veterans during their transition journey. Before joining COMMIT, Maria served as a U.S. Air Force Officer for six years, deploying twice to the Middle East in support of intelligence operations. She also spent three years as a professional skydiver and instructor at the Air Force Academy, finding purpose in forging connections with people ready to confront their fears, both in the sky and in life. She is set to complete her Master’s in Marketing at the London School of Economics in 2025. After years of living fast and jumping out of planes 600 times, Maria plans to settle in Nevada, where she’ll continue to enjoy poetry, reading, and working on her upcoming children’s book series.
