A Legacy of Service and Support: Clark Foundation’s Final Gift to COMMIT

The COMMIT Foundation is proud to announce a final $2 million investment from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, bringing the Foundation’s total support to more than $10 million since 2018. This transformational partnership has been instrumental in COMMIT’s growth and its ability to deliver high-impact, individualized transition support to the veteran community.

Established in 1987 by engineer, businessman, and philanthropist A. James Clark, the Clark Foundation has focused its efforts on empowering individuals and strengthening communities. A scholarship recipient himself, Mr. Clark believed deeply in the value of education and opportunity, famously stating that “today’s money should solve today’s problems.” In line with this vision, the Foundation will sunset operations by December 31, 2025, completing its plan to invest its more than $1.4 billion in assets within ten years of Mr. Clark’s passing in 2015.

The Clark Foundation’s initial support of COMMIT began with a two-year investment in 2018 aimed at expanding the organization’s reach through innovation and strategic partnerships. With COMMIT’s continued success and impact, the Foundation made several follow-on investments to help scale programs without compromising quality. The Foundation’s generous support also enabled COMMIT to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and helped pilot and launch its Spouse Program, expanding services to include military families and their unique transition journeys.

These strategic investments have been pivotal in positioning COMMIT as a national leader in veteran transition services. One veteran reflected, “The COMMIT Foundation provided the most empowering experiences and resources to assist with my transition from active duty. Without this organization, I would be stuck in the initial phase of a major life change—overwhelming dread and fear of the unknown. The access to professionals such as distinguished life coaches, interview prep, and writing coaches is beyond anything I could source on my own or through military-provided resources.”

As the Clark Foundation concludes its historic giving, this final investment affirms its lasting belief in COMMIT’s mission and leadership. “We are deeply honored by the Clark Foundation’s trust and partnership,” said JC Click, CEO of COMMIT. “Their support has helped us build sustainable systems and scale our services to meet the evolving needs of the veteran community.”
