JTMF Generosity Leads to Expansion of Services in Pacific Northwest
Thanks to a generous multi-year grant of $600,000 from the JTMF Foundation, The COMMIT Foundation can expand its services and significantly impact hundreds of individuals living and working in the Pacific Northwest which is home to over one million veterans and numerous military bases, including Joint Base Lewis-McChord, one of the largest in the country.
A portion of the grant will fund two transition mentoring workshops in Seattle at Amazon’s headquarters this spring. The first workshop for spouses of military veterans is April 29 and 30 and the second workshop is for the service members and will run April 30 to May 1. Thanks to the generous support from the JTMF Foundation, the workshops are provided at no cost to the Fellows. During these intensive two-day workshops, Fellows engage in exercises and discussions that help them holistically imagine, explore, and plan their lives after military service. They also work in small groups alongside mentors from various industries to understand paths to success and learn how to create opportunities in the private sector.
This is not the first time the JTMF Foundation has supported COMMIT's mission of transforming service members into satisfied citizens who excel in their careers and lives. In 2023, COMMIT received a two-year grant totaling $200,000. Survey data showed that COMMIT Fellows are more active in their communities and are more inclined to volunteer at a rate of 59% versus 47.2% for other veterans and 33.6% for the U.S. adult population at large.
“We are honored to collaborate with partners who seek to change the narrative around veterans from "broken veterans" to "resilient leaders," said COMMIT CEO JC Glick. “We are incredibly grateful to the JTMF Foundation for their generosity and foresight in investing in our military community.”
Thanks to donors like JTMF, The COMMIT Foundation provides service members and spouses with high-touch, high-impact programs that help them transition out of uniform. We extend our deepest thanks to every contributor for their tremendous impact.
